Berg's Nursery History

Berg’s Nursery was established in 1979 by owners Randy and Deb Berg. The business started small – the couple did not have a store front, only a borrowed shovel and a 5 gallon bucket. After getting their feet wet, Randy and Deb decided they wanted to give the little landscape business a go and found a small wooden building on First Avenue that they could rent. After renting the building, Randy wanted to put up a fence around it to protect what little product they had from theft. The landlord however, would not allow that, telling Berg that he would not be there for long.

The nursery began to grow and expand, the Berg’s finally bought the property the little building was on and slowly acquired more property on the block. A new building was built and a small parking lot was added. After over 40 years, Berg’s Nursery has grown and grown, the business is still located in the same location as the original little building and has expanded to occupy over one half of the city block.

Berg’s Nursery houses a retail store, an enclosed greenhouse, a open side green house and a large lot for many varieties of plants. Berg’s also has a landscape design and installation division that meet the needs of their customers. With continued growth, Berg’s Nursery is continually looking for ways to grow and improve the business. A borrowed shovel and 5 gallon bucket certainly started a long term business for Berg’s Nursery.
